From Philadelphia to Colombia: More Than $8,000 USD Raised for Earthquake Relief

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Colombia, we have witnessed heartbreaking loss. But also an extraordinary outpouring of compassion.

What began with Café Tinto’s initial $1,000 pledge has grown into more than $8,000 raised through the generosity of our Philadelphia community.

To every person who donated, shared our message, prayed, checked on loved ones, or stood in solidarity with Colombia: Gracias. Every contribution represents something deeply meaningful — a reminder to those affected that they are not alone.

For Café Tinto, this tragedy is profoundly personal. Our roots, our families, our food, and the spirit behind everything we do are connected to Colombia. Although we are serving our community here in Philadelphia, our hearts remain close to the communities now facing unimaginable loss and uncertainty.

Turning Generosity Into Direct Help

Our responsibility does not end with raising funds. We want to ensure that the generosity entrusted to us reaches people directly affected by the earthquake in a thoughtful, transparent, and meaningful way.

As we coordinate relief, we intend to prioritize those who are especially vulnerable during a disaster:

• Pregnant women who need access to medical care, nutrition, and essential supplies

• Babies and children who have lost stability, shelter, or access to basic necessities

• Elderly people who may be isolated, displaced, or living with urgent medical needs

• Animals who have been injured, abandoned, separated from their families, or left without food and shelter

  
  

We believe that all life is valuable. Relief must include the people whose needs are often the most urgent, as well as the animals who depend entirely on human compassion for their survival.

Café Tinto has always believed in being a bridge: between Colombia and Philadelphia, between cultures, and between people who want to help and those, including animals, who urgently need that help as we have actively participated in animal rescue in our city of Philadelphia.

This relief effort is another expression of that purpose.

The Work Continues

Raising more than $8,000 is an incredible milestone, but it does not mean the mission is complete. Recovery from a disaster does not happen in a few days. Families will continue needing support as they rebuild their homes, routines, livelihoods, and sense of security.
